Linear Gate Installation in Euless: What to Know First

Linear gate installation in Euless typically runs $1,800 to $6,500 depending on whether we’re hanging a new gate on an existing opener or building the full run: gate, operator, safety edges, and wiring. Most Linear jobs are completed in one visit once parts are in hand, and every price is quoted and agreed before a single bolt is turned. This page is written for the Euless homeowner who already owns Linear equipment, or is considering it, and wants to know what real installation looks like: what it costs, what can go wrong, and how to get it done once. If you’d rather just talk to a person, call (806) 484-1837 and ask for Victor. We answer the phone.

How Linear Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Linear builds a solid operator. The failures we see in Euless are rarely the motor itself. More often it’s the installation around it: the hinge geometry, the catch post, the wire run, the way the previous installer set the limits. Here are the five failures we encounter most on Linear gate jobs, and what we actually do about them.

  • Limit cams drifting on the LDCO series. The Linear LDCO and LDO swing-arm operators use mechanical limit switches that walk out of adjustment with repeated cycling, especially on heavy wood gates. The symptom is a gate that stops six inches short of closed, or slams against the stop block and trips the obstruction sensor. We reset the limits, then throw a torque test at both ends of travel so the motor isn’t fighting itself. The drift itself is normal on this series; it just needs a tech who knows to check it.
  • Undersized wire from opener to pad. Linear’s swing and slide operators are genuinely tolerant of long wire runs compared to some other brands, but Euless lots with a detached garage at the back of the property still push it. When the previous install used 16-gauge speaker wire and called it done, the operator runs hot, the board voltage sags, and the gate moves slower every month. That job means a new run, usually 12 or 14 AWG low-voltage wire in conduit the whole way, and the difference is immediate.
  • Plastic gear wear in the entry-level LRA slide operators. The LRA series is a light-to-medium slide operator popular on back-drive gates in the older neighborhoods off Fuller-Wiser. Its drive gear is a nylon composite that strips when the gate’s track rollers are even slightly out of plane. The owner hears a grinding noise and assumes the motor is dead. Often the motor is fine; the gear is the sacrificial part. We replace the gear, then correct the wheel alignment so the next one lives a normal life.
  • Safety edge wiring that was never done at all. A slide gate with no reversing edge is dangerous, and a surprisingly real number of existing installs around Euless have the edge tied back or taped off. A Linear operator will run happily without the edge wired, but the first time a child or a dog is in the gap, there’s nothing to stop the gate. On every Linear job we inspect and test the edges before we touch the operator, and we wire them properly if they’re not. If a gate can’t be made safe, we’ll say so plainly and tell you what it costs to make it right.
  • Transformer mismatch on the APeX control boards. The newer Linear APeX boards want a clean, matched transformer. A universal transformer that’s close but not exact causes random board resets: the gate loses its remote programming, or the board beeps and goes dead for a minute, then comes back like nothing happened. The homeowner chases it with new remotes and new batteries. We check transformer output on the bench before condemning any board, and we carry the correct Linear-spec unit on the truck.

Our Linear Gate Installation Process

Every Linear installation in Euless goes through the same sequence. No shortcuts, no surprises sent later.

  1. 1
The call. You tell us what’s on the driveway: gate type, opener model if you know it, what it’s doing or not doing. We ask a few questions and schedule a visit.
  2. 2
The site look. We measure the gate, check hinge posts, roller condition, catch post, ground slope, and the existing wire if there is one. We also check what’s on the other side of the gate: keypad, sensors, standalone receiver. We write down what we see, not what we assume.
  3. 3
The written price. Before any work starts you get a line-item quote. Parts, labor, any welding, the wire, the concrete pad if the operator needs one. You approve it, then we start. If it’s not agreed in writing, it doesn’t happen.
  4. 4
The work. We use Linear OEM parts or a quality aftermarket equivalent when the OEM part is back-ordered and the equivalent meets or beats spec. Where a weld is needed, we weld it properly with a machine, not a patch and a prayer. Then we mount, wire, set limits, and set the force.
  5. 5
The test. Full cycle test in both directions. Safety edges tested by hand. Photo eyes aligned and verified. Remotes and keypad programmed. We also watch the gate close against the stop to make sure it’s not building force. Then we test it again. Then we show you how it works and hand you the goods.
  6. 6
The guarantee. Every Linear job carries our written 90-Day Done Right Promise. If anything about the work we did is not right in 90 days, we come back and make it right. No paperwork, no arguing.

What Linear Gate Installation Costs in Euless

Here are the figures we quote most often on Linear work in Euless. These are real ranges, not teaser numbers.

  • Hang and align a new single swing gate on an existing Linear opener: $800 - $1,400
  • Full single swing gate with new Linear LDO swing-arm operator: $2,600 - $4,200
  • Full double swing gate with two new operators and synchronized controls: $4,500 - $6,500
  • Slide gate with new Linear LRA slide operator, track, and safety edges: $3,200 - $5,400
  • Pedestrian gate with Linear actuator and standalone keypad: $1,800 - $2,800

What moves the price: gate weight and material, whether new posts have to be set in concrete, the length of the wire run to the house, and whether the job is a replacement or a true from-scratch build. Steel posts in Euless clay hold fine, but they need a full-depth footing, and that’s labor you don’t want skipped. Call (806) 484-1837 and we’ll give you an exact number after we look at the site. Estimates are free, and the price you approve is the price you pay.

Why Euless Homeowners Call Ironworks Gate Co. for Linear Work

We’ve been doing gates since 1984. That’s four decades of watching cheap installs fail early and good installs outlast the house’s other mechanicals. We are an independent Linear service provider, not a factory shop, which means we recommend what’s right for your gate, not what’s in a corporate sales binder. Our techs are trained on nine gate-automation brands: LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. If your Linear equipment is aging and the honest answer is a different brand next time, we’ll tell you that, and we’ll have the hands-on experience to back the recommendation. A live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Not a service, not a callback queue. We show up when we say, we wear uniforms and work clean, and every job is protected by the 90-Day Done Right Promise. That’s the Keystone Standard, and we’ve applied it to every gate job we’ve ever closed out.
