We identify the right part by the frame dimensions and the hinge center-to-center spacing, not by the model decal alone. Decals fade or get painted over. Steel doesn’t lie about its size. For OEM versus aftermarket, we use Elite’s OEM hinge brackets and weld plates when the frame is still true. If the steel has fatigued and the weld keeps failing, we’ll reinforce with the same gauge steel Elite used originally rather than patch it with thinner stock. Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate drags or scrapes at the latch side. The hinge side has settled, which means the weld at the hinge leaf or the post plate has started to shear. The gate is telling you the load path has shifted.
• A visible crack runs through a weld bead. Hairline at first, then it opens up. If you can catch a fingernail in it, the weld has already failed and the metal is carrying the load on a thinner section than it was designed for.
• The gate leans toward the street or the house. This is the post plate weld or the hinge barrel pulling away from the frame. On Elite swing gates, we see this most often on the top hinge, where the cyclical load is highest.
• You hear a creak or groan when the opener moves the gate. A healthy gate moves quietly. Noise means metal flexing at a failing joint, and every cycle is making the crack longer. Euless humidity doesn’t rust steel the way the coast does, but it doesn’t help a stressed weld either.
• The gate hesitates or binds partway through its travel. The opener is fighting a frame that’s no longer square. You’re burning out a $600 circuit board to save a $400 weld repair, and that math doesn’t work in your favor.
