Mighty Mule Access Control Installation: The Euless Owner’s Guide

Mighty Mule access control installation in Euless typically runs $325 to $575 installed, including the control board, wiring checks, and full programming. We stock Mighty Mule-compatible control boards and access modules on the truck, so most Euless jobs are finished the same day we arrive. The call usually starts the same way: the keypad stopped responding, the remote works but the keypad doesn’t, or the gate opens on its own after a power blink. Those are control board and access module failures, and they are the most common Mighty Mule repair we handle in Euless.

Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To

This covers the full Mighty Mule residential line we see across Euless driveways: the MM360, MM371, MM571, MM572, FM200, FM350, FM500, and the newer MMK360 and MMK571 series. The access control module is the small board that interprets signals from your keypad, remote receiver, or vehicle sensor. Mighty Mule boards differ by series, and the compatibility gotcha we run into in Euless is this: an MM571 board will not drop into an MM360 arm without a wiring adapter. The control board also carries the DIP switch settings, and those switches on a Mighty Mule are set differently than on a LiftMaster or Ghost Controls. We identify the right board by the model label on the opener arm or by the part number printed on the old board itself. OEM Mighty Mule boards are fine, and quality aftermarket equivalents from GTO-compatible manufacturers exist, but we only install aftermarket boards that carry the same voltage range and relay ratings as the OEM part. We stock OEM first, aftermarket second, and we’ll say which one we’re quoting before any work starts.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Access Control Installation Is Failing

  • Keypad works sometimes, then stops. The board’s relay is arcing internally. This is the single most common failure we replace in Euless, and it gets worse with temperature swings.
  • Gate opens on its own after a storm or power dip. The access control board has lost its memory settings, which usually means the onboard battery or capacitor is done. Texas thunderstorms knock out enough Euless gates every spring that we keep spare boards stocked for exactly this.
  • Remote works, keypad doesn’t. The access module’s keypad relay died while the remote receiver still works. That’s a board-level failure, not a keypad wiring issue.
  • Gate beeps but doesn’t move when you enter the code. The board is receiving the signal but not sending the open command to the motor. This is almost always a failed relay or cold solder joint on the board itself.
  • You have to enter the code twice or three times. The board’s processor is failing, not the keypad. We see this a lot on Mighty Mule boards that have baked in direct Euless sun for five or six years.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Euless, a complete Mighty Mule access control board replacement runs $325 to $475 installed. A full access control installation with a new keypad, wiring, and programming runs $425 to $575. The range comes down to which board your model needs and whether we’re rewiring the keypad run or reusing existing low-voltage wire. The price includes the part, labor, removal of the old board, wiring check, full programming, and testing the gate through a full open-close cycle. Every Mighty Mule access control job we install is covered by our written 90-Day Done Right Promise. We quote the exact price before we turn a single screw, and that number does not change.

DIY or Call Us?

Working on gate access control means working with low-voltage wiring and a board that controls a moving gate. The safe part an owner can handle in Euless is checking the obvious: confirm the keypad has power, confirm the opener arm has power, and confirm no visible wire has been chewed or pulled loose. What we don’t recommend is opening the control board housing and swapping boards without the right wiring diagram and a meter. The main risk is wiring a 24V board into an 18V system, or shorting the relay and sending the gate into a hard open or close. A gate arm moving unexpectedly is a real hazard. We also see a lot of Euless owners buy a board online, install it, and then discover the DIP switch settings don’t match their arm’s travel direction or push-to-open setup. Then we’re asked to unbake the problem, which costs more than calling us first. If you want to check part numbers or talk through the symptoms before touching anything, call us at (806) 484-1837. A live person picks up.
